IM Available for Everyone

I don't know if this is a bug or intentional but sometimes a user isn't able to add me on IM. They click the IM button in my sig and IM opens, but instead of prompting them to add me it does nothing. I'm pretty sure the same thing occurs when they search up my name in IM and click "Add". It still doesn't do anything.

This is honestly pretty frustrating because then the user is forced to Private Message me, which still isn't a viable option because of how slow it is so I'm usually forced to give out my email for them to email me. And sometimes the user isn't even able to Private Message me because they need 15 posts, further discouraging them from contacting me.

I don't understand. Can a mod or dev please clear this up for me? Why can't certain (new) users add me on IM?

If they're using the button from forum only, it won't work unless they have opened and used IM before already. Pretty sure that's the case. As for searching within IM and adding, not sure.

Ah ok I understand so if they're brand new then they should search for my name instead of clicking the button. But sometimes it doesn't get added like I mentioned before.
