I would say Uber is not the best long term investment. My reasoning is that Uber/Lyft and other companies that rely on a gig economy will always have a dark cloud hanging over them. That cloud is legislation to make their drivers employees instead of contract workers.

In an unstable economy like the one we are in now, these are powerhouse companies that will not go anywhere anytime soon. The biggest thing is to obtain a position at the right price.
