Not a Hack but mod question

I would like to make a couple mods to the texture files but havent been able to find a decent dds tool to convert them. I am looking to make a basic color conversion on the player body textures so that they are easier to see. Anyone have an idea or recomendation?

Okay I managed to use the program paint.net to modify the dds files and added the brighter colors to the textures I wanted to mod. Unfortunately the 2142 server program detects the modified files and wont allow me to join any of the servers. Man I need an injector type program to inject the files once the programs up and running. Of course a way to change the files while remaining undected would work too. I will probably end up having to buy someones hacks to do what I want. Darn
