The FAMAS or Fusil d'Assaut de la Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne, in French, is a bullpup-style assault rifle manufactured in France by MAS. Weapon Explained
Mechanics
The FAMAS is the first rifle you gain access to at level four. It fires in a three-round burst with great accuracy. This burst is capable of killing at any range, as long as all the bullets hit. This is a very capable weapon in the hands of any player, whether that is the seasoned veteran or a player new to the COD world.
Targeting
The community is split on their opinion of the iron sights of this weapon, but what is not in question is the fact that this weapon is deadly accurate and can sit in for a sniper if you have good aim. The irons don't exactly give an unobstructed view, but they don't stop you from killing targets at anything but long range.
Sights
Red Dot Sight: The red dot allows for rapid and accurate target acquisition. It makes up for the mediocre iron sights with its pinpoint accuracy and unobstructed view.
ACOG Scope: Definitely for the player that wants to keep his distance, the ACOG scope gives extra magnification allowing for long-range kills. This scope works better on this rifle than others due to its burst-fire nature.
Holographic Sight: Similar to the red dot sight, the holographic is great for picking up enemies are medium to long range. It's up to personal preference.
Thermal Scope: The FAMAS does loose a bit of accuracy with the thermal scope, but it is still more viable than on fully automatic rifles. Recommended for medium-long to long range.
Techniques
Role
The FAMAS excels in many different situations. It is a very capable sniper substitute and more than equal to every assault rifle mid-range. The only thing that isn't recommended is close quarters combat (CQC). Firing from the hip is risky and you have a much better chance of pulling off a kill with a secondary like a pistol.
Recommended Class
This class is recommended for medium to long range assault roles. This would be the optimal setup for clearing out flags on domination or defending a bomb on search and destroy. Your job is to sit back and pick enemies off from a distance and not let them get too close.

1.Sleight of Hand Pro
2.Stopping Power Pro
3.Ninja Pro
The FAMAS with the red dot gives you extra accuracy over the iron sights and that can be the difference between life and death when facing a fully automatic assault rifle like the ACR. Often whoever lands the first bullet gets the kill. Slight of hand pro is meant to help with that quick target acquisition. Scavenger is generally not needed with burst fire weapons because you are generally more accurate with them and aren't spraying bullets to get a kill. Stopping power makes the three-round burst a one-hit kill at all ranges. Ninja allows for silent approaches and gives you the ability to flank the enemy if that is your play-style. The M9 is the secondary of choice. It has a very fast swap to help you in close quarters situations and a larger clip than the usp in case you run into more than one enemy.
FAMAS 8/10
The FAMAS is the first rifle you unlock allowing you to use this versatile weapon at all times. It is as accurate as any rifle and allows for one burst kills at any range. With the right perks and attachment it can be used for almost any situation, making it more than deserving of its high rating.
