If anyone wants to help instead of just complaining... we got the work done, but the actual migration is a lot more complicated. The guy who did most of the feature work, was asked to do the migration but just had a baby and is basically dead lol. Who can blame him.

We just need a skilled node.js / nodebb dev to handle the migration work so we can switch off this legacy forum and make MPGH a lot more modern. E.g. shitposts on the toilet. MPGH desperately needs a mobile app. No cap.

So find this dev, we'll pay him, and complete everything. That's really all it comes down to. Finding high quality people to do the work that we don't have the time or capacity to complete it.

The main thing at hand right now is installing NodeBB and configuring the data migration plugin to transition the current vBulletin forum data onto NodeBB. There will be some other things after that, but our main priority right now is just making the switch to NodeBB first.

I totally understand this position as a developer myself. Not in the same field but I can 100% say developers are the most saturated they have ever been in society atm. Finding a dev to do this especially with pay shouldn’t be too difficult.

It is difficult because it's oversaturated with trash developers. Already been through a few of those.

Also, while people may have familiarity with Node.js, almost no one has experience with NodeBB development.

Just arrived on this topic, and I must say MPGH is the only thing that remains of my teenage years when I used to discover game hacking on combat arms, and I don't want it to die/close.

I have learnt a lot of things here: To speak english (MPGH has helped a lot ) and IT related stuff such as how hacks are coded, how mods are created, C++/C# knowledge, how to create a website, etc... (even though I don't master them fully and ended up heading towards a completely different career path).
I have not been a very active member during the "golden age", but I was browsing the forum a lot, and as I was spending way more time actually using cheats developped by the talented community.

I was also part of other forums/communties (especially french ones, because of course it's my mother tongue so it was easier at that time to communicate on french hacking communities) and I've met people who were ahead of their generation, and were helping each other create stuff. At that time, 13 years old who were involved in game hacking were more hardworking, dedicated and educated than the rest of the population, just from their curiosity.

Now that online games have way more efficient protections against hacking (that a 12 year old cannot break anymore ), I don't think it is really possible to keep this website alive only with game hacking or selling accounts & in-game currencies. As Dave84311 has said, "a new purpose needs to be found for MPGH".

One idea I had some years ago, while being nostalgic of that time where we had the choice between a large choice of cheats, is that the community was actually divided in 3 types of individuals:
    - those who were here only for the cheats, and did not care about the community
    - those who were here just to buy/sell stuff
    - those who were here for the community, and to learn, create and share things (mods & graphics tutorials, programming tutorials & source codes).

As for the first category, they are long gone as cheats become more rare.
The second category is still here, but I'm not really into their business so I can't quantify how many people it actually represents.
The third category has in common the quality of wanting to experiment, learn, create and share things.

The only thing can think of, that could eventually satisfy this third category, is indie game creation. It's not as fun as telekill, but it's possible to create a community around that, and to keep the programming/graphics core, to boost creativity of each other, to acquire new skills. We could imagine people having projects, and others creating assets (or stealing assets from other games, we're a hacking community afterall, who cares about the copyrights ! ). And even though creating stuff is not always fun, having them available for others to see/play can feel rewarding for creators, and entertaining for the "consumers".

It's just an idea I had; I have no idea how good it is, if it's doable or if you guys have betters ideas. But I agree that we should stop complaining that MPGH is dead, and try to find solutions to MAKE MPGH GREAT AGAIN .

(I also support the idea of a d1scord server as Trol553 has mentioned, or of a better/more visible chatbox on the website, so people can communicate more, find ideas, and strenghten the community spirit)

You're right... There're few tutorials on the internet about NodeBB development.
