Chance of being banned, 2016 Cheat Engine

Hey everyone,

my friend supposedly has been banned years after adding BP via cheat engine or so he said, my question is, is this actually possible?

I've added BP with cheat engine years ago as well, now I am starting to worry, surely after years and years I won't just suddenly get banned, as it went undetected since 2016, surviving plenty manual reports and hackusations, but realistically what are the chances? it is probably pointless to worry and he is full of shit about only having used CE way back as he insists, but I can't help to think what if?
I've not been on dbd in months, I'm worried about starting playing again and finally getting banned, would I even have to start the game to get banned or would I get flagged and banned while inactive?

I have no idea if that is still possible nowadays, sorry. I remember using a eac bypass though, maybe you can find similar.
