Well it worked for me in my private room. I just tweaked the first line in config.ini and changed it from Modern Warfare 2 to alterIWnet. I loaded up the retarded bots mod (to test out the new maps) and played without any problems.
If it really doesn't work in actual multiplayer then please do inform me. Also I'm sorry if you guys already knew, but I heard a lot of people say mods are not possible.
