My scope mod fails, what am I doin wrong?

Well i extracted UI_HUD_Info.rez and used the style_A (acog). I mod a nice scope, and deleted the acog picture that was layer 0. So I basicly started from scratch. But now I tested the thing ingame and my mod is like a bit transparant and I see an acog coming trough my scope, wtf?!

I have no ideas anymore, tell me what to do/

I do know the answer, but the helping part hum. I have to hold my rep of a ass hole [as everyone calls me] and I have to hold my rep of The Child Of Wickedness so. Hum its a iffy thing you know. /

    UI_HUD_Info.rez [Correct]
    style_A (acog) [Correct]
    deleted the acog picture [Fail]
When ever I modded the scopes I have always worked off the current one that was there and just changed the shit on it and deleted parts in side it, if you change the whole thing then it just kinda masks over it and makes a [second] layer and then it looks like there is 2 scopes and not one, or it turns out looking like shit, you know?

    EDIT:

By the way some files have both .DTX and .SPR so make sure you look at them both.

    no, fuck paint.net. Photoshop ftw.

    Go edit your alpha channel...
you probably didn't and it's still in the same shape as the old scope, meaning (since it's the transparency channel) the shape of the old scope will still show through regardless of you deleting it or not.

on the layers tab go over to channels, click on alpha, use black and white for it. make it the same shape as your scope.

black = transparent (it wont show up on CA)
white = visible (it WILL show up on CA)

if you look at both the RGB and Alpha channel the part that wont show up will appear in pink/red. make sure all the edges of your scope are red, use a brush. otherwise you'll have a white outline all around it.

I'll use pictures. (Using my M16A3 Iron Sight.)

    Scope on Photoshop:

On the Channels Tab. Only RGB is Visible/Selected:

On the Channels tab still, Only Alpha is Visible/Selected: (Black doesn't show up in CA, White Does.)

On the Channels tab, Both RBG and Alpha are Visible/Selected: (I zoomed in some so you could see where the alpha overlaps the RGB just a little. This is important so you don't have a white outline around your scope. As you can see there's a few places where i still need to go over, but i'll get to it later.)

Does that explain it a little better?
