Well, i realize you stated that he's new to CS5, but just to mention it, it looks quite on the basic side. There's too much empty space on the right side. And the text FONT is cool, but it doesn't really blend well with the render.

I actually kind of like the dissolved noise. Especially when its full sized.

I think, rather than a signature, it could be a stat tab, with all that negative space. You should put your ign, kdr, gp, xp all that stuff.
