It seems that when we see a noob who doesn't know anything, we tell him to go to the MPGH seminars. Seems like MPGH seminars replaced learning from books.

    *we does not include me.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't read books as well. In school, you have a teacher and a book. Same thing..

Well lets put it like this. I'm going to be teaching from the book. And if the student wants me to keep reviewing something I just taught I'm going to tell her to RTFM.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. This is, I repeat, the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

Simple is Simple, The concept is similar to the concept of a classroom, students will learn more, and have a greater understanding then just reading a book.

I don't know about you, but last time I read a book and asked it a question, it didn't answer me.

and I am a little offended that you don't support my idea

I'm not sure he "doesn't support it" as much as he worries the old ways of reading books may be abolished (which personally I don't think will happen. Books are the greatest form of presented information.).

    I agree, Books can help.

Consider this however, if you read a book full of codes and concepts without ever turning on your computer and following along, How much of that information is actually retained?

However, if you follow along with the book in a "hands" on experience, you will retain more (memory from actions).

the courses are essentially the same thing, in a non literal non offensive manner (to books) The teacher is the book, and the students the readers.
