Custom Skins!

Hey everyone
I learnt how to do this awhile back and i was searching the forum checking
if anyone had posted it but i suppose they havn't. So ill put it up .

In this tutorial i will show you how to use any Riot official skin or any user made skins for free.

Requirements:
understanding basic navigation of your computer's files
a desired skin
A unzipper program (7zip,winrar etc...)


---Using any official Riot skin-----

Step 1.
Navigate your way to
C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\game
( this may vary depending on where you installed it to)

Step 2.
Open the zip file HeroPak_Client.zip

Step 3.
Navigate: Data --> Characters ---> (desired hero)

Note: this file will be filled with alot of junk so look for your hero's name, if you cannot find it, it will be under another name ( I will post a list of alternate hero names at the end.)

Step 4.
Go into the hero's file and find the skin your looking for, they should either have a name or be numbered 1,2,3,4 ( these will be in the same order as they are displayed in-game.)

Step 5.
(Im going to be using Annie for this example)
After finding the skin you want copy skinname.dds
Remember your look for the DDS
DO NOT CUT IT!

Step 6.
Close the zip file and go back to :
C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\game
From here on, if you cannot find a folder named Data create it. Go into that file and create another file called characters then go into that and create another one with your heroes name. So for me "Annie"

Step 7.
Paste the skin into the file and rename it to your heroes basic name
so mine will be just "Annie.dds"



Step 8.
Now go into a practice game, pick that hero and test it out!!!

Alternate names for heroes:

Ashe = Bowmaster
Singed = Chemicalman
Zilean = Chronokeeper
Anvia = Cryopheniox (check spelling :S)
Taric = Gemknight
Shaco = Jester
Kayle = Judicator
Alistar = Minotaur
Gangplank = Pirate
Amumu = Sadmummy

Those are the ones i can name from memory, correct me if im wrong
I will cover custom skins in another tutorial if this one does well.

CardMaster = Twisted Fate
DarkMaster = Tyradamere!!!! YES!
EDIT: It's easy to tell who the character is if you have a dds viewer but since i dont know all of the characters of LoL I wont be able to put all of them in here o-o

And thanks for the other names, i just use paint.net for my dds viewer hehe (you gotta get a plugin though)

By I wanted Tyradamere is that I wanted you to post the name for him but since you didnt I was like noooo but then i just went in the files and found it so yah.

PS: You shouldn't just use the dds file you should put in the skin files too because if you dont it will look off.

Followed your instructions step by step, I am computer savvy just fyi. Tested it multiple times w/ champions I have purchased already. Started with Tango Evelynn, and have got no good results. Does it literally unlock the skin? Or is it client side only (only you see the skin)? If this just works for the user, then I'm not too worried about it, but it would be awesome to load up some limited edition skins if possible. I just can't seem to get this to work.

No it does not permantly unlock them, and only you can see this, I dont see how you could possibly go wrong :/ Its so straight forward, if someone else is willing to test this out, please do so.

Oh just mentioning, if youve bought a skin and are trying to replace it, that skin has a different name, E.G Cardmaster.dds as opose to Cardmaster_Hearts.dds (or whatever).

Yes your instructions are very straight forward. I just don't think this works, anymore. There is that possibility that I overlooked some step in your instructions, I may give it another shot later.
