GET A BETTER ISP
OR GET A BETTER CORD FOR YOUR MODEM
OR FIX YOUR XBOX
So basically I start the xbox and im signed in, but later i get disconnected in less than 5 min. and I cant sign back in untill i test the connection then i can sign back in and get disconnected again...and repeat the process. I keep getting disconnected from xbox live whether im playing a game or browsing the dashboard. I have timewarner cable i get 20 mbs and i am directly connected to the modem( Arris Ethernet and phone modem). I have the 4gb new black xbox 360... I wanna play some god dam black ops but cant.
ps. I have contacted xbox support and Timewarner none of them have been helping much...

Any time you plug in a different device to your modem you have to restart your modem, so you can try that. I know from experience that Arris modems are fucking bullshit and they crap out easily. What I recommend you do is just wire your xbox to your router because as long as your not wireless you should notice close to no speed difference while wired. I'm almost always game host for any COD game I play.
Go to 192.168.100.1 and tell me what your signal to noise ratio is and give me a summary of what your event log for DOCSIS events is saying. If there are any problems while your xbox is wired up it should have logged them, you could also wire your xbox up and keep track of the time then wire the modem back up to your computer and tell me if anything got logged while your xbox was wired.

This happened to me and i wasn't forced too switch my I.P, My method was Unplug my modem for about a day (Because I went to the pool, and was out for 4-14 hours)
Came home , Plugged it back in my I.P changed, Unplug the wireless connecter, plug it back in, wait 10 Mins, Test Xbox connection, And make sure your profile doesn't auto-sign in, thats what my problem was. Then it should be fixed. :/
