Get a mouse with changebale dpi, so you can use a high dpi for moving your mouse around when not zooming, and using a low dpi (400 - 800 dpi) when zooming in to be more accurate. Oh yea, and get a decent screen resolution.

I suggest you get the Genius Ergo mouse and a Razer Mantis speed mousepad. That's the more smooth one.
