The controls are very confusing, in my opinion. In my experience with the program, I had a very hard time simply looking around the scene.

No they're not. And because of its simplicity, I don't think that he made these. To make something of this accurate design, you'd have to have years of blender experience. I doubt someone with that kind of experience would be posting on a hacking forum.

Not because the 3D model is not extremely complex. The majority of work is the texture who does.
