Supsup.
This will be my first ever guide, so I hope you won't take me too harshly if here 'n there are some mistakes.
Please note, that this is the strategy I'm using. If you'll follow it 100% - I can't guarantee it'll work for you, after all, you do need a bit of common sense.
Let's begin with a bit of information about ''merchanting'' itself.
What is merchanting you might ask?
Merchanting is all about buy in cheap, sell out high.
You can't be like, "hey, I'm gonna merchant, I've seen people make millions with it!"
Yes, that's true, but it isn't easy. Merchanting takes time, takes a lot of money, and it takes a lot of steel nerves.
What do you exactly need to be a good merchanter?
-Steel nerves
-A lot of cash to start with. You
can merchant with 100k, but it's not easy, and it'll slow you down. I suggest that you'll go to some guy who sells RSGP and buy at least a couple of mills.
-Patience.
-A runescape character
Comeone.. Cut the crap, get to the point!
When you're merchanting you're basically watching a lot of items at once.
For example, look at the vesta longsword.

I've been watching this item since it was 25mill. If I bought one then, I would've been 7mill richer. Why didn't I?
Easy.
It's rising significantly in wealth, that's what you
DON'T want.
It's going up, up, up, but not down.
That means that (nearly) nobody is buying that shit, so you'll end up with a VLS -> crap.
Yesterday (04-20-2011) I talked about what you shouldn't do. But what should you do?
As I said before, the whole point of merchanting is to buy in cheap, and sell your item(s) at a
huge profit as quickly as possible.
How?
Haha, we're getting there, steady on.
What I used to merchant are
Dragon Claws. They're always wanted, whatever the price is.
At the moment Dragon Claws are worth:

If you look at the picture, you'll notice it is bouncing up and down at 20-22'ish mill. The price of it at the moment is 21.1mill.
But what does it mean?
It means it's probably going to rise, again. If you've bought it at the 10th of April, you would've been 1.1mill richer now.
Are you going to gamble? Or are you going to claim your raise and stop?
This is another good point in which a lot of merchanters have lost thousands, maybe millions of GP.
If I were to buy the claws, I would take the gamble and wait.
(
I think it's going to rise, again. I'm gonna say 23/24mill tops at the end of april)
Conclusion:
Merchanting isn't that hard, when you've got plenty of money, and some good pair of eagle eyes. It's all about insight. Below are some tips from me, for you.
-[b]Never buy something if it rises a lot at once, like the VLS. That's the thing about ''offer and demand''. If it rises a lot at once, it means that there's a lot of demand for that item, but not enough offer. Which either means(
at least, this is what always happends to me) that you're going to stuck with it for a long time, or that you won't even get the chance to get it.
-Watch the G.E. a lot. Keep an eye out for items that are high in demand, in wait for them to drop in price. If you've been watching that same item for a lot of time, and you're seeing it's rising again, you could either
A) wait, and see if it keeps rising or dropping, or
B) take the gamble and buy it, hoping and praying that it'll rise a lot more.
-Start out with some cheaper items, like
Dragon Scimitars(
just an example), you could try to buy them at 90k a piece, and sell them for 110-120k a piece.
-If you've got at least 2mill, go for
Cannons. They're not that expensive, yet they're high in demand.
-If you've got at least 10mill, go for
Robin Hood Hats. I've bought one myself when it was 4.2mill, it's dropping again (3.9/4'ish?) but I'm sure that when we're halfway through May, it'll be @ 4.5-5'ish.
-If you've got 20-25mill, you could try
Dragon Claws.
-Last but not least,
don't start out too soon. Watch the G.E. a lot, get some insight about how it works, how the economy of runescape is, and if you think you've got what it takes to be a merchanter. I've only got one thing to say: Good luck!
This was my guide on how to merch. I hope I've explained it good enough for you all. If you've got any questions, feel free to ask.
