Stop Nexon Screenshots

Due to the fact that there are mods that transform your character models.

I've decided to release this file that will stop ScreenShots from Nexon. (I did not discover this.)
You wouldn't want Nexon seeing you running around nude.

Directions:

1. open up "hosts" file with notepad
2. add:

127.0.0.1 avatar.heroes.nexon.com # Vindictus Korean Avatar Server
127.0.0.1 gamelog.nexon.com # Vindictus Log Server
127.0.0.1 avatar.vindictus.nexon.net # Vindictus US Avatar Server

3. Save (stop here if no error)
4. Move to desktop
5. Try again.
6. Move back to C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

Directions: (For lazy people)

1. Download file
2. Replace that file with the other hosts file.

Where is the file located?

C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

Virus scan:
VirusTotal - Free Online Virus, Malware and URL Scanner

Also, you should add how they can do it themselves,
you can add

127.0.0.1 avatar.heroes.nexon.com # Vindictus Korean Avatar Server
127.0.0.1 gamelog.nexon.com # Vindictus Log Server
127.0.0.1 avatar.vindictus.nexon.net # Vindictus US Avatar Server

to your hosts file.

You can do this by double clicking the hosts file and opening it in notepad. At the very end of it copy and paste that in.

If it gives you a permissions error, move it to the desktop, edit it, then move it back.

Tbh, belongs in tutorials.

I'm very surprised at how a lot of information that was posted a very long time ago was never compiled. Personally, I stopped updating stuff because of the 'edit' button restriction. I just find it annoying to have to contact someone else to make edits. Seems like a waste of time on their part.

Anyone know why that rule was implemented in the first place lol?

I have to agree with the edit button thing... Very annoying especially in some of my tutorials I would like to expand on.

We find out where they send it to and add that address to the hosts file. Easy

It has been used to prevent taking pictures when you use modified models.

So far I know the boat-screenshot of you character appears in the korean version as your avatar picture and everyone can see it. I think in the US version this is not the case. Check out account info on the Nexon page after you log in. Your last character screenshot is stored there.

Yes that is the boat screenshot in the account info.
If you use a model mod then it would show up there.
When I don't use the host file, it would get updated every 1-2 days.
