Should I learn java?
I know there's another thread going I'm sorry but I think my situation is different and I don't want to hijack someone's topic.
So, my question is.... should I learn java? I have experience in visual basic (I"m not that great but I've just got the basics) and am programing with the microsoft visual basic IDE or whatever it's called.
I normally do desktop application just for fun but am planning to start a carear in I.T and software development. so should I learn java? is it worth it?
The point of java is to be cross platform.
If you want an IT career, c++ is the way to go.
If u goin to make I.T. Career go learn C++ and forget Java, like BodyByVTAK said. Thats my opinion too.
Old thread is old.
And java is fun to learn, unlike other languages.
Why don't you try a BASIC programming language before you try java?
Java isn't as easy as everyone says it is.
yeah java is really easy, you practically learn 85% of c++ with java, except you're really limited in what you can do compared to c++. Java was actually derived from c++. If you're looking into much more advanced stuff e.g. hacks, game development, go c++; however, if you want to create simple programs like a small game, or calculators, stuff 0f that nature, go java.
I learnt java, wont recommend you do the same. there are limited options in java programming (small games or something like that, my project was an XO game in 3 levels). if you're going for career try html or C (c# and c++ aswell)
would recommend both.
I'm actually going to work in the IT industry. The company I'm currently at, codes in Java.
Wouldn't hurt, I learned it and it's not the best choice, start with C++. Once you learn that then start trying other shit,
Why you so smart peoples (:
