Making it fluffier and edges smoother?

Okay, so a friend told me about this design he had a few years ago that was never finished, so i tried to recreate it from a picture of a shoe (his friend drew it)



and this is what i came up with:


How do i make it smoother on the edges and add more "fluff"

try pentooling the edges since the edges are all black

Preset brush 1 px
Color of the bear (black)
and use the cntrl click the pentooled lines for easier control

Adobe illustrator live trace it, than rework the color with either live paint or just vector it.

Try using a brush with a nice feather on it

Quite a while actually, but I dont think a feather is going to give you what you want, now that I think about it, are you looking for more of a texture for the bear's fur? Im still not quite sure what u mean by "fluff"
