Hello MPGH,
I got bored and yeah, you know how it goes...
Anyways, shotguns... They're complete powerhouses at close range, yet at long range, it'll take so many shots that even an AK sprayer can kill you. Here's some tips on how to use the shotgun.
There's two ways to use the shotgun. One way is to rush the opponent, trying to get close enough for a one hit kill(all shotguns are one hit at point blank). The other, more noob way is to camp. When you camp, you most likely have an advantage that is crucial to shotgunning: they can't see you. One thing to never do is to go long, or even mid range except if you use the M37 Stakeout. The recoil from the other shotguns will usually result in a three/four hit kill. Not something you want to be doing.
With shotguns, you are trying to aim for the head while you are moving. Never stop moving unless you're camping. Moving does not increase the spread a lot. If the opponent is going in one direction, move with him to get a steady aim. If an opponent tries to ambush you, don't think; just click. He will most likely die in one shot. Try to force your opponent into a close range one on one confrontation, like in the 'diamonds' created by the two freestanding stone blocks in Egypt. Find the good places yourself and use them to your advantage.
Shotgun reviews:
XM1014: Your typical shotgun, medium firepower and used by beginners mostly because of the fast fire rate. Use this to get used to shotguns.
SPAS-12: The more powerful shotgun, SPAS-12 is hindered by slow fire rates. However, the power is incredible! If only you can fuse XM and SPAS...
Dual Desperado: A rather cool looking shotgun, it has extremely little spread and retains that one hit kill. Light as well, with 8 bullets like the SPAS. The only downside is that you have to reload all shots to fire, unlike the other shotguns.
XM1014A: The XM1014 and SPAS combined. This gun has high power, fast fire rate, and a lot of ammo for a shotgun. Downside: looks like a turd in that coat and still no one hit at mid range.
M37 Stakeout: This is the shotgun for pro AR users because it DOES one hit kill at mid range. Has Dual Desperado spread, making it that much more powerful. The only downside is that it's pump action, making it slow to react to crowds.
SPAS vs. Dual Desperado
Are you having a hard time choosing between the Dual Desperado and the SPAS? Choose the Desperado, because range is actually the most important factor with shotguns, not power, recoil, or any of that stuff. The range you can kill will majorly affect your gameplay with shotguns.
Have fun with shotty!
