Usb is broken

Plugs in, doesn't show up when I got into my computer Vista & 7
When I go manage and devices It shows up I have uninstalled and re installed but It still wont show up in pc

500mb is configured to my Xbox but it won't show up on my xbox either.
I've had it for around a year and it has worked fine until a few days ago.

It does connect to my laptop/pc but for some reason it won't show up so I cant open it

My drivers are all updated

I've done the whole manage computer thing Device manager thingy.

Does it always show up on the laptop and what kind of USB device is it?

And does the whole manage computer thing Device manager thingy say any new devices are connected? If so are they malfunctioning and if they are, with which code? Also is "usb" a USB flash drive, external HDD or what?

Flash drive
Mass storage device shows up and it says it's working fine until I click properties or something then It gets the Exclamation mark next to it

Quoting MS: "Incompatible, outdated, or corrupted device drivers" are usually the cause. I wouldn't go as far to assume it's the flash drive that's broken, I would sooner blame some software configuration than the hardware. Any chance you could test the device on another PC?

Most likely fucked up then, you're best off buying a new flash drive
