Would I get into legal trouble if I shot someone with a BB gun?

Depends what state you live in, in some states (like texas) if somebody is trespassing on your property and is believed to be stealing then yeah, you can shoot that person. But if somebody is doing it over and over and you seen them with your own eyes steal something you can take any precautions you desire, even if he/she ends up suing you, it most likely won't hold up in court. You MAY get charges layed but so will the thief.


If it was me, I'd put a pipe to their head and make sure he/she weren't moving.

You can't actually kill a person for being on your property without your permission. The person has to present a very clear threat to your life before you can pull something like that, otherwise the courts will side with the guy you shot.

Yeah, here in Houston like last year or a few years ago or something, This guy saw 2 bad guys breaking into his neighbors house, when they came out of the house the neighbor shot and killed both of them, he went to court but he got out of it scott free.
