*I am going to constantly keep this thread up to date whenever a change happens, or whenever MCPatcher is updated. I noticed there was another MCPatcher thread, but all it was - was an attachment and a video. It is also outdated, so I will keep this one updated from version to version. I will do my best to keep this thread high quality, and give you the best success.
Why should you use MCPatcher?
MCPatcher is not a necessity to have, though it's nice to have if you're someone who loves to "change the look and feel of Minecraft". Texture Packs. You've seen texture packs that are bracketed "32x" or "64x". This basically determines how "high definition" or "high quality" they are; texture pack wise, and graphical wise. Now, if you use a 32x+ (as in higher) and you don't use something like Optifine OR MCPatcher - most of the good looking graphical parts of the texture pack will not show up correctly. Sometimes the water is not animated and it says "You need to patch!", etc etc etc. MCPatcher basically patches your minecraft.jar and makes it able to run and use HD texture packs correctly!
How to use MCPatcher!
Here, I will give you a step by step tutorial on how to use MCPatcher. I haven't seen any tutorials on it, and I've only seen one thread about MCPatcher, and it's outdated. Anyways, here we go!
1. First of all, you need to download the program we'll be working with today; MCPatcher. You can find the download to it at the bottom of this thread from the attached files.
2. Once you have the RAR, extract the RAR using WinRar or any other RAR extracting program and run the .exe (application).
3. Now, once you open it you'll have to wait about 15 seconds and it'll retrieve your minecraft.jar, check if it's patched already, what version it is, etc. Everything SHOULD go well - if it doesn't, it will tell you what is wrong. For example, if you have a 1.2.4 client, it will make it unable for you to use this patcher and you will have to get a previous version of the MCPatcher for it to work..
*NOTE* MCPatcher is NOT compatible with 98% of HACKED clients! You have to use the default minecraft.jar for MCPatcher to work!
4. The ONE thing that you NEED to have ticked is "HD Textures" - this enables the HD texture packs, and enables it so you can use them. Now, you can configure any of the other ones. If you want to know about what they are, look them up! (I also recommend HD Font. Makes it look 100% better).
5. Once you tick everything you need, click on, "Patch" and it'll take a few seconds. A message box will appear and it will tell you that the patch has been complete. Now, you can load up your Minecraft, and load up your HD texture pack, and you're ready to play!
For Mac
Basically, if you use Mac you do the same exact thing. I will include a RAR for Mac / other OS! Instead of clicking on a .exe, you'd click on whatever type of file it is for YOUR OS. Then, you do the same exact thing. It will already be set to your OS if you download the correct OS, so you won't have to manually find your minecraft.jar just because you have Mac, etc.

You do not have to trust the attachment. I got this from the OFFICIAL creator and post of the MCPatcher. Download at your own concern. I understand that the window version is 1/39 - Which is why I am posting this note.
