I know dude, it's the only (clean) way to do it or else she'll be licking her vag and may cause it to bleed more. Dogs menstruating is jsut as nasty as regular chicks menstruating, if you need to get latex gloves to put on first, helps me when I need to do the same to my American Blue Pitt. Same problem with her too, nasty jelly like stuff, none of my other dogs get that bad neither. It's gross but when she stops you'll have a healthy pup on your hands, if it dries or she licks it away she can get sick :/

If she is from a good line of dogs, is a purebred, and you wanted to keep the line going I wouldn't spay her but that has never happened to me. :/
