What I was referring to was from a purely technical standpoint. Linux offers more options/customization than windows and windows more than Mac.

Wine Itself took up like 80% of my RAM so I couldn't dream of playing a game.

Linux isn't used as much as Windows because, for the typical user, it really isn't that great of an alternative to windows. Like I said, windows has a much larger variety of software and linux shares most of its software with the windows platform as well. The only area linux has a leg up on windows in is the fact that its open-sourced, and people make a hobby out of making it more secure and efficient. As the fact that its open-sourced, its also much more trust-worthy.

Also, because its open-sourced, there are a lot of flavours out there to optimize the most out of your platform configuration (i.e strip the OS to bare essentials for a server). And if you need to hack in your own mutation, its relatively easy to do with a fully documented kernel.

For a typical user, I see no point in getting linux over Windows unless price is a big issue for you or you have some serious hardware limitations.

I guess from a home PC standpoint that might fly, but if I was only using a computer for work or anything else, I'd probably go with Windows because I use CAD and a couple other modeling/Windows-centric programs that just wouldn't run as well on Linux. It sounds great, but right now, Windows is still the go-to thing for many people because it balances customization and accessibility.

Until Linux is compatible and more mainstream, it won't get off the ground very fast.

On top of that, they have much less functionality and if they try to use the "looks" argument, I can make my Windows machine look EXACTLY the same. Plus the virus argument is also bogus, I've only ever gotten one virus in my life and that was when I was 3 or 4 and I clicked on one of those flash games like an idiot. (Plus back then anti-viruses sucked.) If you're not an idiot and you take care of your PC you'll never get a virus. (Plus the only reason PC has so much more, which it does not, there's many viruses for Macs too now, is because it's so much more popular, lol. xD)
