Not really.
Most console browsers are behind in terms of HTML, Java, and Flash support.
Plus navigating through websites and the interface with a D-Pad and analog sticks seems more tedious than using my computer.

And if you don't have the gamepad keyboard, then it's fucking pointless. It's going to take you 5 minutes just to punch in each individual letter.

Your shitty console only pushes a maximum resolution of 1280x720. Most HD TV's have a max resolution of 1366x768. Your TV simply stretches and fits the picture to the screen size.

Wow, the Xbox is just getting this now? The Wii has had this since like 2005 or 2006.

Really? I think you're talking about the phat Xbox's. My slim outputs at 1920x1080.

No. The phat and slims both have the same hardware; MS made no improvements besides the RROD. The highest native resolution it will support is 720p, and setting your Xbox 360 to 1080p will simply make games use the hardware upscaler to stretch the image to 1080p. That being said, the upscaler is pretty good and will still make it look nice on a 1080p display, but it isn't quite the same as playing in native 1080p.

I believe there is only a select few games that have ever reached true 1080p on the xbox, one of which is Rayman Origins. Though in order to achieve this, developers had to reduce other visual aspects of the game in order to have a solid fps.

A great example of games that require upscaling is the Call of Duty series. Those are rendered in 640p but upscaled to 1080p depending on your settings and your TV.

Wow, that's pretty funny. I guess this is yet another reason why PC gaming surpasses the Xbox. xD

At the time of the Xbox 360's launch, high-definition TV's were not very cheap. Microsoft was genius in picking their target market. If they attempted to future-proof it, the original launch price would have been substantially more. This November will mark it's 7th year out, thus making its technology a good 8+ years old.

Personally, I think the developer Bungie was best in fully utilizing the Xbox 360's potential. Halo didn't even push true 720p, as Halo 3 uses 2 frame buffers which both render at 1152x640; one for the high dynamic range and one for the low dynamic range values. This ability to display a full range of HDR, combined with their advanced lighting, material and postprocessing engine, gives their scenes, large and small, a compelling, convincing and ultimately “real” feeling, and at a steady and smooth frame rate, which in the end was far more important than the ability to display a few extra pixels. Making this decision simpler still is the fact that the 360 scales the “almost-720p” image effortlessly all the way up to 1080p.
