The thing about Crysis 2 and 3 is that they don't look so great in video. They look amazingly epic with screenshots, but when you play the game it's almost like there is an overflow of detail and you can't really take in all the information until you stand still and observe the scene. Almost like an overflow of detail.

Agreed, if you just play through their games it almost seems like another FPS but if you stop and take it in them you will truly see what has been done. Although with so much going on in the story lines it hard to do sometimes as they are packed with enemies with advanced AI :/

Some games it works and some games it doesn't, if crytek used photorealistic textures then the game wouldn't look as good as it does because the engine they have developed is superb enough to create the tessalations on directx 11, OpenGL, etc to make it look realistic enough.
