then why did you bother posting it if it doesn't work there really isn't much point to it.
just my 2 cents.
not 100% on this. but when i edited the version.cfg it no longer tries to update
open the version.cfg to say this
<!--
[PATCH INFOMATION]
Format = 0
Launcher = 8
Updater = 13
Client = 9
Sub = 3
Option = 0
[/PATCH INFOMATION]
//-->
and it will stop tryin to update ^_^
seems to crash when i go to select a game though

thought some1 might be able to do somethin with it
Hey at least he is actually trying. Better to experiment than to do nothing.
Good try.
Server and other clients has updated version.cfg so you won't join thier games with your old one.
that's because you need the correct warrock.exe client to connect to the shit... but if you don't update, the client won't be updated...
Well if you need the correct client to connect to the games, then why not let the files update then find a bypass? The patch notes (see below) say that all they changed were some of the sound files and that they optimized performance.

[02-23-2007] Server Downtime & Patch Update:
Servers will be going down at approximately 4:30pm PST for updates. Downtime is estimated to be no longer than 3 hours. We apologize for the late notice but we felt that the performance increase was significant enough to delay yesterday's regular maintenance time until the patch was approved.
The new patch focuses primarily on a reversion to the MILES sound engine (resulting in much-improved stability) and addresses several major crash issues. Current plans are to keep this engine in place as we continue to research the issues reported with XACT.
There is a known issue with this patch (holding any key down while waiting to respawn in BG/UO will cause your Windows cursor to remain on-screen until you close the game client), but we feel that the stability increase is worth this inconvenience and will continue to work on it. If you encounter this error, you can fix it without exiting the game by clicking on any of your weapon slots in the respawn window, then selecting any weapon.
Thank you for your patience!
Team War Rock

Well if someone has the old client unupdated, compare it to a new updated client, and find out the exact differences. Then just take the new portions of the files and find a way to keep them intact but bypass them without interrupting their new "function."
I don't know a whole lot about hacking the system files etc, but is this possible?
