Great initiative! I guess the main reason that this section is a bit "dead" is the (lack of) design and modelling skills. Good project though.
I will be here to support you, but sadly Zachary doesn't have time really anymore to help out on another project. As I'm very busy with my own project. I can model things you might need thought. I will be releasing some free scripts I have made in my free time for unity
Hahahahahahaha Goodluck mate, I already tried.
I develop games and have since 2009. I have played with CryEngine 3 quiet a lot. I found that using LUA in CryEngine 3 provided some nice results, though I know of a plugin that lets you use C++ and C# to do a lot of your scripting.
I have played around with Unity, UDK, (CryEngine) xD, JMONKEYENGINE 3.0, LWJGL (Light weight java game library)... You see where this list is headed..
Out of all the engines I have experimented with, I found that UDK gave me a lot of good quality as far as the pipeline went. CryEngine... well I found myself in a puzzled situation 50% of the time. So every corner I went around I was discovering more issues I had setup for myself, though with UDK it feels hard to create landscapes with in the engine itself, where CE3 gives you more customization options.
There is a whole list of pros and cons I could list here, but in my experience, UDK takes the light from CryEngine for a few reasons.
I wish you luck on your project :P
Its kind of logicall that everyone is leaving the game hacking scene.
More and more people are releasing their stuff, its easier and easier to hack in games.
And especially since no one has respect for it anymore.
