Don't ever use Stealth in HB. Then hitting the target is gonna be way harder
DutchAirForce (05-22-2013)
I only use the default XD
[Air target ammo belt] Designed for setting stuff on fire
[Ground target ammo belt] Designed for making giant holes on planes.
[Omni-purpose] Designed for setting stuff on fire and making giant holes.
[Stealth] Designed to piss the crap out of the enemy player, Putting them on fire, Making giant holes and make their wings blow up easier [If you can hit]
I personally use Omni purpose for the machine guns.
And stealth for the cannons.
previous post = not true ...
default are just regular bullets, 2nd option is usually for ground targets, and added armor piercing and tracer rounds for better accuracy (to an extent) and the 3rd and stealth are pretty much exactly the same, but only stealth have less explosive/fire round, and no tracers at all, bullets are invisible, but both around the same damage. if anything stealth is weakest, due to having less a chance of causing fires on planes etc. however, it -is- the best for historic battles, because you cant see the bullets to attempt to dodge them.
If you have any idea about rounds you will know that a ball round is a standard round. Nothing special. So is it not better to have AP/AP-I than a ball round. Just remember that tracer rounds also help with your own aim.
Ammo doesn't efect much. I only see use in Stealth ammo. If i'm on an enemy's tale i can easly shoot at him and he will not know from where i am shooting, this is harder in HB couse you look at where the bullit is going and if you have stealth ammo you dont see the bullits anymore.
Stealth got no tracers which make it hard to hit with in HB and very hard in FRB unless you are using cockpit view
Each plane has different ammo types in their stealth....
It's simple really, for your cannons you wanna use HE rounds, focusing on fighter planes... If you're boring then AP rounds are best vs heavy armoured planes (bombers, heavy fighters etc)... most of my kills are fighters, especially in HB I prefer going for fighters.
For instance in most 109 like the f.. you get better ammo with air target ammo than stealth even though you have one weaker tracer round you still have more rounds of HEFI. this fks fighters up way more than ap.. which just penetrate... AP good for ground targets.
SPITxvi etc has terrible stealth ammo, I kill air targets with ground ammo better.
In HB n FRB if one of your stealth ammos is best usually stick em on one of ur guns and something else on the other. I prefer putting my ap rounds on MG's if I wanna pop some ack.. I only fire those.
read the ammos counts... how many occupy weaker Tracer rounds etc. I'd rather fire stealth AP/AP/AP-I/IAI etc than a rack of AP-T... better damage output.. whether arcade frb or hb. It's odd with some.. the worse less kill worthy ammos cost more.. I don't like hunting bombers in HB really.. they soak up too much ammo and it's usually easier to get multiple kill runs just going to fighters., also your team is more likely to win if u just ignore the damn bombers.. this game is pretty much TDM (hb frb).. like 99% are just team elimination.
if playin arcade i mean... if the stealth rack has the best damage output i go stealth on both... the targetting reticle is so easy to mess about..
ridic easy mode.. especially with liike a yak9th u can just go single tap snipe dudes from 600m if they're not spazzin but.. i play 30 ping.. still I got my firs 5 kills no rearm with yak9t in HB (granted it was against a bunch of droolers).
if ur using tracers with potato gun 30mm> and ur secondary weak mgs don't fire both at the same time.. leading with such a diffcaliber mg will put ur big hitter off.

my premium a6m5 Ko Reisen for instance
The mg is nose mounted... so I can't go stealth cannons because they are wing mounted and the tracer from nouse is not much good for me. I just use stealth there.. nose mounted is easy to aim at ground aa anyhow.
with my important killer cannons I want tracers because they're wing mounted and I need ot judge the deflection.. wing mounted weapons usually excell at turn/deflection shots over nose mounted but dno how this is modelled.. nose mounted is too imba in wt. so omni purpose is the easy choice. lotsa moron gok map roll il2l n shit so good to have some AP in there.. but always check team stats before rolling.. if there's a bunch of bombers/ attack planes with armour.. just stuck up on AP rounds... I got a lot of PK headshots vs bomberdweeb heavy teams (japan wins very frequently because too many russians roll essentially what's useless in HB... bomber/ ground attack planes. the more fighters = win.. it's not arcade.. but obv a lot of ppl suck balls so they jsut fly bombers to get their boring kills on AI.
