Ohai!
I have about 1500 dollars saved up specifically to build a new desktop! I have a few questions about purchasing parts to build a new desktop:
- What is the best desktop build for under 2000 dollars?
- How long will the desktop last me until I have to upgrade?
- How often do I have to upgrade parts?
- Is this cheaper, in the long run, than purchasing a laptop every year or two?
Sorry about all the questions, and I apologize if a question seems very...noob-like :3 I have always been purchasing laptops, but I would love to upgrade to a nice gaming desktop because of how often I play!
I just would like some advice from fellow gamers before I go out and start purchasing computer parts! Thanks! ^_^

Hold on to your money for another few days until you start to see Haswell processors in your local stores.
The price of last year's generation (Ivy Bridge) will go down a lot and you'll be able to get more bang for your buck.

this site could help: Logical Increments - PC Buying Guide
but, like stated above id wait for the new intel processors to come out, also you could wait till more of nvidias 700's come out.

For 1.5k you should get quite a solid build, my guess is 4 years? Probaly earlier if you want to play the latest games on highest quality.
How often do I have to upgrade parts?
Depends on what you buy e.g. if you buy a better graphic card you will need to upgrade other parts earlier. Its quite complex but you can find out what effects what by reading through the website above or through the forum here.

Of course, laptops are always more expensive than a desktop, also you can build a destop together which makes it eaven cheaper. -> laptops are not really made for gaming.
Hope i could hep
