Headphone question.

I am about to buy new headphone, because my current ones broke.
I am really leaning on the HDJ 2000s, but I have a question.
I know they are DJ headphones, but I am mostly going to use them for normal home use.
Will the quality still be good?

I always recommend checking out Head-Fi.org - Headphone forums and reviews for audiophiles reviews. I have no personal experience with the headphone you have so I'm not going to bash it, but depending on the price of that headphone you may be missing out on much better deals in the price v. performance category. I personally own a pair of audio technica M-50's powered by a FiiO E17 amplifier and I'm very pleased with the results.

Also if you want to know if it will sound good, DJ equipment doesn't magically get worse for home applications, the problems you will have will mostly be getting a clean signal to the headphones, the proper use of high quality audio files, and most importantly having enough power to drive the headphones and I will say that driving your headphones will be the most important out of these things.

When you're looking for headphones keep close attention to the resistance (ohm rating) of the headphone. If its anywhere above 35-40 ohms, you'll have problems driving them with enough volume from things like cellphones, mp3 players, and laptops which aren't usually designed with a high out put DAC system, you'll be stuck with fancy headphones that can't get loud enough.

All of my songs are FLAC quality, and I don't think the headphones need an amp I can look into it though.

Really depends on how much you're willing to spend on earbuds, when you start spending around 80+ you can rival any good set of headphones. Especially if you start getting into multidriver set ups for your earbuds.

Indeed true, but at that price range you could acquire a pair of over-ears of much higher audial quality.

I completely agree, but wearing earbuds for hours on end will end up hurting like a bitch.

Even though over-ear ones do the same thing after a certain amount of time, it's not nearly as bad.
