It's a worthy sacrifice. It's $100 cheaper than the Xbone, but I doubt they're getting as big of a profit margin as they'd like, so they're "subsidising" the cost with PSN+ (at least that's my rationale). Most people want to play online so they're going to get bucketloads of money every month until they surpass their break even point. I wouldn't be surprised if in a couple years time they make multiplayer free again, PSN+ was worth the cost even before it was a requirement so once they get the profits they need and reduce the manufacturing costs they can offer some goodwill by releasing multiplayer free of charge and likely retain most subscribers because of all the goodies they hand out.
