Just put reflective tape on the outside of your shades, then angle them so they are turned with the rounded portion facing the outside to reflect the heat back up instead of down. Set up two fans, one to suck in the cool air from the air conditioning and one to suck the heat out of your room by putting that fan up high towards the door and you're golden.

To combat the heat, I had a retractable shutter cut specifically for my window.
Reduces my room's temperature considerably, especially since my window faces East and gets a lot of direct morning sun.
