You can disable it in device manager.. (well at least you can in windows). Is there something similar for Mac's? Some sort of device manager?

Stop eating chicken by your computer and clean the grease off of it.

On windows you can control your selection without a mouse by using the TAB key, the arrows and the enter button. Not sure about Macs though.

This has happened to me before. It went crazy. What I did is:

Take a Q-Tip and Stick it into one corner of the trackpad. Drag it all the way around a couple times.

But I do this when I get water into it, don't know about soda

Might try this, it's funny because when I turn my Mac on for like a few minutes it would work then troll me.

    Same symptoms I had.

Basically, I had no Q-Tips the second time it happened, I just let it sit without turning it on. Having it shut down for the whole day.

I came back the next day, it was fixed.

Also, if you can't fix it, you can go into System Preferences somehow and set it to disable trackpad activation when an external mouse is connected. Then you can go out and buy one of those cheap $5 wired mice if it really comes down to that.
