Dedicate more RAM to your 1.6.1 server?

Does anybody know how you can give more RAM, for example 1024mb to your server?
The .bat file method does not work, it keeps giving errors such as "cannot acces mincraft server.jar" etc.
I have set up my server for my mate and me, but the server is running on 100mb and it laggs like total shit.

And this code does not work, my cmd will just open and close in less than a second.

    java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar Minecraft_Server.exe nogui

Download the .jar version of the minecraft launcher.Open up notepad and copy/paste this line in there: java -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -cp Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame.You can change the ram to what you wish. I either go to 3gb or 2gb. If you have a 32 bit system then Be careful on how much ram you use for java, since 32 bit OS doesn't go past 3gb ram. Click File>save as, and name it "Start.bat" (without quotes) and place it with your .jar file. Make a shortcut for the .bat file and place it on your desktop for easy access. You can also change the icon so it won't look bad.Now run it and press F3 to see how much ram you're using.

Nevermind, there was a problem with the name of the .exe server
I had to change it to Minecraft_server to make it work

Why would you need 2gb of ram for 2 players?
How many plugins are you running?

You'll need max 512mb. If you check official MC hosting sites 2gb is for like 20 players.

Not necessarily, more RAM will work up to a certain point.
512mb for 2 players is more than enough, otherwise it's your internet now.
