You are talking about people who didn't even have a basic education. I could make a coin dissapear and they would think I am a God. Also, a book filled with flaws isn't exactly the ideal source for trying to prove something as a fact.

God created us in His own image so we can know Him personally and have a joy-filled life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him, but gave us a will and a freedom of choice. Since the beginning of time, we have chosen to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God and ends in misery.

They have many explanations for this. For one, they could have all been stoned. No one knew what drugs were back then, they could have been using marijuana and other natural drugs everyday.
