How to Boost your FPS (5 Quick Tips)

I've seen some people release updates on how to boost FPS and how to change crossfire fonts etcetera. I've created a thread like this a couple of years ago, but since some of the "re-releases" are quite undetailed, I'm here with an update.

Step 1 : Login to crossfire > Go to Settings > Put everything on the lowest possible

 

Step 2 : Download Mz Game Accelerator > Run the program > Click "Switch To Gaming Mode"

Step 3 : Download Game Booster > Install and run the program > Click "Start Boost"

Note : This is an old version and might not work. If it doesn't work go here : Iobit Gamebooster

 

Step 4 : Download Ccleaner > Install and run the program > Check/Uncheck the options you want to be removed or not > Click "clean"

Step 5 (Optional) : Change your crossfire font to lower your FPS

• Go to C:\Windows\Fonts and pick a font you would like to be displayed in game.
• Go to C:\Program Files\Z8Games\CrossFire\rez\Fonts, there you'll see a font named as 'default', delete that font and Paste the font you want to be displayed and rename it as 'default'
• To maximize the boost effect, choose a font that is a really small size (such as Comic Sans Ms).
• Note(1) : If you do not name the font as "default.ttf", there will be no text displayed in game.
• Note(2) : Some fonts will also lower your FPS, which is why this is optional to do

To prove that this actually works, a screenshot from my FPS before I did any of these and a screenshot after I had done all of these steps. I went from 44 to 82 FPS, a significant difference.

You should add in that the font used can only be True Type Font, not a regular Font (.fon) or even an Open Type Font (.OTF). Just renaming the file ".ttf" if it's a .fon file will make the text invisible, as it isn't compatible with the client.

Well, If you install a font, doesn't it automatically become a .ttf file? Because I installed a font that wasn't on my pc by default and it became a .ttf by itself. Also, the cf default font is a .ttf

I'm not sure about a font becoming a .ttf when you install it, as I have not installed any fonts. I do know, however, that only .ttf fonts are compatible with Crossfire.
