How can I do this on mac? Did the .command terminal thing to get that set up, chose my mods, booted it up, now it's stuck at the loading screen. Help?

Make sure you make a tick on "connect to production server"

Ok, sorry for the late response
1. press 'O' and you should see the options pop up.
2. Then click on the graphics tab, Next you should see Hardware acceleration as the last option
