I think i have a virus

My little brother downloaded a starbound keygen without me knowing it, and now my pc lags terribly. I've tried rebooting, mbam and ccleaner but that didn't work. Can someone please tell me how to get rid of it?

Malwarebytes and avast are the programs I install on most computers. Choose the option to scan before windows scans, and restart your computer.

If reinstalling is an option for you and you do not have the windows CD, you can download a copy of windows and enter your own serial key (if you have it) or use an activator.

Did you scan before the windows starts? And check the processes in the task manager to see if something strange is running...


And like I said, you can always download a copy of windows.

Try comodo firewall and dont let any connections go in or out. To make sure it aint sendingnout information again.

I've clean installed windows, but now my screen looks messed up and I can't get it to look as it used to. Any tips for that?

right click on your desktop and go to screen resolution and maybe download your video drivers.

If you've got a virus such as that, I believe it would be something using your system's physical hardware to get the hacker monetary gain. Such as silent bitcoin RATs. They will run a bitcoin miner silently, and you'd never know you've been making a hacker money.

Suggestions:
If you use a manufactured desktop/laptop find out who manufactured it and google their advanced startup mode keys.
You'll have to reboot the computer and press that key.
Try and find restoring to factory settings
Google how to restore your computer to factory settings (if manufactured, it'll partition the harddrive and make a safe recovery)
