Good question. I was playing League of Legends and I spiked to 12000 ping. Even on 1 MBps internet from Verizon, I never really went over 2000. When I shut off the 1 MBps internet so only I can use it, I never lagged.

other devices can take more internet then others
ex. you playing league of legends doesn't use much memory
but if someone is downloading something on there ipod or watching youtube then you will lag + 1mps Verizon so you will definitely lag if someone else uses the internet

I no longer have 1 Mbps Verizon, have 50 Mbps Comcast. And yeah, I noticed that when I load videos, it's super fast, but when it came to gaming, it wasn't that great.
