As long as it's for web browsing and typing up word documents then by all mean go for it but make sure that the hardware in your PC equals the value of the Mac.

ASUS with onboard AMD APU laptop would be much more cost effective and have just as good of warranty.

Even Dell's alienware would be better than mac.

Mac is like buying a case with a fake apple with a bite out of it because you like that look.

ASUS, MSI and Sager just make sense for people. You can run Ubuntu, windows 8 and I think there is a way to run mac's os but that would be expensive.

Why do I suggest onboard graphics even when not gaming? All of the hulky new webbrowsers draw much faster on GPUs and new HD looking oses can be offloaded to GPU. There's tons of stuff that utilizes gpus and it's a much more efficient route than going just with intel HD graphics.

Sager and MSI's laptops do circles around Apples. MSI has one of the best laptop screens now as well if you're looking to buy something expensive

Thirdly I don't think I will ever buy a laptop ever again that said though the new ones are so thin Mini-ITX with a laptop screen attached can't compete at all.

If you're getting a MacBook for just everyday surfing and/or school related things then by all means go get it. If you're getting it for hardcore gaming and/or any other intensive things, then you sir are a retard.
