Possible private version of nilly's client

I'm considering distributing my client privately to those who compensate me for my work. The client would be different than the public one I had offered here. It would have more features and less restrictions (as far as hacks are concerned).

On the idea of making sure the client stays private, one idea I had was to tie the account email of the user to the client itself to persuade people to keep their copy to themselves. I'm sure a lot of people would have a problem with this so I'll entertain other ideas but there will be some sort of protection in this regard if I am to do this.

I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on the idea.

My idea is to make a client but have limited features as suggested but rather then having 2 seperate clients, make it so that when someone wants to use an option that isn't allowed, they have to enter a code of sorts which they'll need to buy off you and it's a one time use like a UGC and such. Like 'trial' and 'premium' versions. Don't know how one would go about this though.

Interesting. Would this include a way to update the client? Or would you have to redistribute the client each update?

I have little interest in offering a two tiered client. It complicates matters and the benefit of such an approach is limited.

Primarily monetary but doesn't have to be. If one has something of value, a deal can be made. I will state that I'm not looking for ingame items.

may i ask why all of a sudden, you want to keep your client private, and charging for it now? I mean, im not saying what ur doing is wrong at all, im sure u work hard making ur clients, so expecting compensation isnt that big of a deal, im just wondering because the last client u made when u added auto ability, u mentioned u will stop releasing it, if somebody changes ur code and releases it public, is this what happened, or why now all of a sudden? and would this be a one time payment type kind of deal, or would you expect each person to re-pay u every update? and if ur not looking for in-game items, around how much money would you be wanting as a payment per person? because i would be willing to pay if the price is reasonable.

In the mean time, it looks like its back to Realm Relay everybody.
