How to force Steam to use more simultaneous connections

Valve's Steam normally uses up to 4 simultaneous connections to download games from servers. Server load and location have no effect on the number of simultaneous connections you use, it seems to be based on the game itself. If your internet connection and ISP has no problems, there should be no difference between downloading with a single connection or up to 32 simultaneous connections. However, sometimes the downloads could be dramatically faster if you use more than 4 connections.

In order to use more than 4 simultaneous to download games, you would have to trick Steam into making more connections to Valve servers. All connections are universal which means if you opened a connection to update a game or ever check for updates, it can still be used to download content. To use more than 4 connection, you need to first put your desired game(s) on download and while they're being downloaded you have to attempt to download a new random game. When the new game is added to your Download Queue, you should put your previous game on top and remove the new game from queue or just Uninstall it. You can repeat this procedure to get up to a maximum of 16 connections to Valve servers.

Alternatively, you can run steam with "-console" command and enter the following commands into console to get Steam to start all of your downloads with a minimum of 16 connections:

Note: No need to do this every time you launch Steam with console because commands are not saved.
