Bump. It seems a lot of ignorant people are still claiming Islam is not peaceful but completely ignoring the fact that fighting is only permitted in self defense. Also want to add these verses:

Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly. - 60:8

Allah only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion - [forbids] that you make allies of them. And whoever makes allies of them, then it is those who are the wrongdoers. - 60:9

The verses talking about fighting non-Muslims, are not talking about all non-Muslims throughout any time period. It is only talking about only those non-Muslims who were killing and oppressing Muslims during the time of the prophet pbuh, back when Muslims were a minority.

The Quran has a chapter dedicated to non-believers. Chapter 109 is called, "the unbeliever" this is the whole chapter:

Quran Chapter 109, verses 1-6

Say, "O disbelievers,

I do not worship what you worship.

Nor are you worshippers of what I worship.

Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship.

Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship.

For you is your religion, and for me is my religion."

If you want to claim that is Islam is violent, then first make sure you understand it and consider all of the verses, don't just cherry pick verses that promote your agenda based on ignorance.

All of those people were Jews or Christians who had nothing to do with Islam in their lifetime. In fact, it wasn't until after they were dead for over 500 years that Muhammed commented that they were spreading Islam.
