Windows 7 x64 vs 8.1 x64

I generally for the MOST part never update my OS till I absolutely HAVE to. I stayed with XP for the longest time, I don't believe I switched until a few months after they reveled that Directx 11 would not be supported on XP. Now the ONLY reason I would consider upgrading to 8.1 or even just 8.0 is for the " 10-15% performance increase" in games. So my question is, is it REALLY worth it or no? I literally can not stand the windows 8 tiles(Even though I have a windows phone, it's different for a phone to me). and I realize I can get the look of 7, but is it really worth the hassle?



Also please do note my current PC specs in my sig. It's not like I really need an increase, but it is still nice to have. I'll be upgrading the i5 soon too, I think. Most likely to a 4930, but yeah. Gonna stop rambling now.

I hate the idea of Windows 8 as well but you can download classic shell to make it look somewhat more like Windows 7 and under.

Install 8.1. Boots up much faster than 7. Install StartIsBack and you pretty much have Windows 7 again.

Windows 8 start up faster then windows 7, it may look confusing to you cuz you ain't that smart.Also there's nothing unsupported atm

Don't worry.. download a program like Start8 and you would never have to encounter the horrific start menu and the apps unless you really need to access some settings.
