Shoujou doesn't really have an "up and coming" or "oh look at this series, it's been around forever but I never checked it out" list of titles, that's why.


In a sense Shoujou's main downfall it's it's author's unwillingness to deviate.

Where as shounen may blur the lines between genre's, Shoujou remains heavily shoujou at all times.

Well shoujo only really applies to one audience, unlike other genres such as sci-fi, adventure, etc.

I think Shamo is probably the best "realistic" badguy manga, though I'm not sure if Akumetsu qualifies as a "badguy" either.

He's an anti-hero, isn't he? I think Shamo is the best here. He's a psychopath, without any justification for his changes. I mean it's been 31 volumes, if he's not gonna tell us now -- when will he? Like at the very end? That'd be shitty. I wouldn't consider Ichi the Killer a badguy either, considering

Dwaejiui Wang is a Korean movie showing the viewpoint from a "badguy" but even then it's not all that. It's hard to find series that have psychopaths as the main characters, after all there's not that many people who would relate or be emphatic with them. Though I think Shamo did a good job.

It's hard to find good badguy-inspired series that aren't directly going into comedy.
