I know a few friends that were trading in stock. You don't need a broker. They did everything online including buying and selling. It's actually pretty simple to learn, you just need to know what to invest in. That's the tricky part, it's a gamble.

Broker as in trading firm, not a person, everyone needs a broker.

Doesn't explain why @Assistive is retarded as fuck though.

Anyways, most brokers require like $100 to open an account, and I wouldn't recommend anything under $1000, because the fees will kill you, even the limited free trades w/ no fees usually expire after a month, and even penny stocks won't help you out.
