Hey guys, I've recently tried out the 2010 VB to replace my 08 version after a reformat. So... Here are my opinions. First of all, I was disappointed that it required all my old projects saved on my back up drive to be "converted" which I think is totally unnecessary, although I'm not really mad at it for needing a conversion.
Pros:
1. New theme, its OK but not exactly the best, I honestly don't care about the skin.
2. Seems to have the main program load faster.
3. Has movable tabs, if I need to use my previous code as reference to a new project, I can pull the tab out and look between the two, and the pulled tab doesn't have the window frame around.
Example:

4. Codes are relatively similar to the 08 version, not like the 05 to 08.
5. Took out the pause button that I never bothered using from the default toolbar settings.
6. All in all I think they did a good job on it as for BETA. This wasn't made to be released till March I believe.
7. Nice splash screen
8. Very nice how you can still copy and paste old source code for 08 to 10 with no problems. I was scared that would happen because of the 05 to 08 as I said earlier.
Cons:
1. Setup made me restart 3 times before I just chose to end the setup because it was in a constant loop cycle of restarts to install the MySQL server or Silver light, something like that.
2. ANOYYING error that pops up when I open a solution file:
3. Disgusting text color scheme.
4. Not automatic text position formatting. In 08 it would automatically tab in or out if you acidently deleted some spaces, this won't do that which really bugs me, leaving my code all wild.
5. Requires VB.net 4. Should be backward compatible, but I don't think it is. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
6. Does not have the error viewer panel available by default, have to activate it manually.
7. I don't think it has fixed the x64 bit issue on GetAsyncKeyState for .Net 4 BETA and probably still needs me to force it to use 16 bit integers instead of 64 bits. (There is a difference...)
8. Weird text font, I don't know what the hell Microsoft was thinking. Maybe it was for the looks, but the font is NOT cool. You get used to it after a while and might make you look "Pro" but its really hard to adjust at first. I hate the font.
Those are my 2 cents... 8 reasons on each side and I hope this will help you on deciding to upgrade to 2010 or not. I don't think its really good at all and would prefer the 08 until they can get a backward compatible and be able to have options to have a more 08 based UI.
Thank you for reading.
Any donations would help

Aww, I was hoping for an automatic hotkey placing, so you wont have to put codes to make hotkey, like in the My Project part, there would be something that says hotkey placing, and you can choose the hotkey, and pick what it does.
That would be cool
Nice post about what you think here is mine,
I like 08 better because of I canīt find items and so on in 2010.........
-Rest in peace leechers-
Your PM box is 100% full.
My main problem with it is that it uses .net framework 4.0 which doesnt works for basically nobady
