How can i stop blocked and unfriended people on steam send me messages?

There are spammers which send me messages from time to time but they show up as 8 unread even tho i blocked them, and it drives me crazy so i unblock them to make the messages read and block them again.. but it doesnt do anything so why does the feature even exist?

The same thing happens to me even after blocking and I contacted support, no response for 5 weeks so far. #gabendontcare

I had the same problem what i had to do was unblock them temporarily make sure everything is read and then ensure they are removed then reblock them.
