What do you recommend?

An SSD? I would recommend a A-data Premier Pro SP600, they are the cheapest and most reliable on the market right now. The 128 gb version is about $48, and 256 GB is around $85. Also, for the Optical drive, my friend can give you a windows 7 or 8 for around $5, if you would like.

On your monitor, are you looking for 4k, 1080p, 144hz, anything specific? Thanks and also leave a thanks if you liked it.

Dont forget to get an SSD, a CD/DVD reader (or whatever you call it) and if you need it an external hard drive.:P

a GTX 960 in a $1k gaming build?? get a GTX 970 instead and swap the I7 for and I5 4690K

Not really an expert about Intel processors but I think that the i7 is the best, depending on which one you choose. But a smeap mentioned, I think it's a great option to get a GTX 970 and swap the i7 with an i5. If you're not going to swap, than stick with the i7

Surprisingly decent for the cost, but forgetting storage & missing out on DDR4.

Edit: I agree with the change to an i5 4k series and an upgrade to the 970.
